Jaime Alberto Amaro Ayala's story begins with an unusual start that blossomed into a lifelong devotion to teaching languages. Born in 1975 in Mexico City, Alberto's path into education started when he was just sixteen. Since 1991, his journey has taken him from the classrooms of prestigious institutions to the dynamic environment of Spanish55, where his innovative approach has transformed the language-learning experiences of countless students. This is the story of a man who turned an early start into a lasting legacy, mastering the art of communication and connection in every chapter of his career. "I started teaching English at a young age, initially in the American English Institute, a small academy that no longer exists, followed by the Anglo-Americano,"

Dedicated to his craft: Alberto in his element, preparing for another impactful Spanish lesson from his home office.

Alberto reminisces, painting a picture of a young man driven by curiosity and a desire to impart knowledge. At just sixteen, while most of his peers were navigating the final years of high school, Alberto was already standing in front of a classroom.

"By eighteen, I was teaching company employees while studying administration at the university."

His early exposure to corporate training environments honed his ability to communicate effectively and manage diverse groups of learners. And just as Alberto's teaching started early, it soon became a lifelong dedication. Fast-forward to today, and he's been a prime example of experience and knowledge in foreign language teaching at Spanish55 since 2014, an absolute feat given that it almost coincides with the company's start, solidifying his reputation as a dedicated online Spanish teacher.

Cancún marked a significant chapter in Alberto's life. At twenty, he moved there and embraced a role as an English teacher at the Omni Hotel. "Teaching at the hotel was transformative. I had to prepare tailored programs for various departments, from housekeeping to sales," he explains. This experience underscored the importance of adaptability in teaching, as each group required a unique approach to language learning.

As the new millennium started, in 2000, Alberto returned to Mexico City and rejoined the Anglo-Americano, this time in a leadership role. "I was in charge of coordinating the English training for employees across three major banks, overseeing sixty teachers," he shares. The task was monumental, involving strategic planning and the implementation of robust training programs during a period of significant corporate transitions. "It was the era when banks were being acquired by larger international banks, and the entire staff had to be proficient in English."

Life's journey then took him to Tijuana in 2005, following his marriage. Here, Alberto's career flourished as he took on academic coordination roles at several universities, including Universidad Xochicalco, Universidad Iberoamericana, and CETYS Universidad. Each position enriched his understanding of educational methodologies and administrative challenges. "Working at these institutions taught me a lot about structured academic programs and the importance of standardized assessments," he notes.

Alberto's most transformative professional chapter began with Spanish55 in 2014, where he has been dedicated to helping English speakers learn Spanish online. "The transition to teaching Spanish online to foreign students was intriguing. It wasn't just about changing the language but about adapting to a new teaching dynamic," he reflects. His role evolved rapidly from coach to academic director, where he was instrumental in developing the curriculum still in use today.

"Developing programs for Spanish55 was exciting because it involved creating something from scratch that catered to the unique needs of online learners."

His approach to teaching is profoundly personal and empathetic. He emphasizes the importance of preparation and connection. "The key to effective teaching lies in the preparation," he says. "I always prepare my classes thoroughly, from the sequence of activities to the final wrap-up." This meticulous approach resonates with his students, fostering a learning environment built on trust and mutual respect.

"I've had students who've opened up during sessions, sharing personal joys and sorrows. These moments aren't just about language but human connection."

Proud father moment: Alberto celebrates Samantha’s high school graduation, a testament to her hard work and determination.

Alberto's life is a blend of tranquility and family devotion outside the classroom. His go-to person is definitely his daughter, Samantha. You can see his eyes light up when he mentions her: "I love spending time with my daughter. That’s my favorite activity! We talk about everything, from music to her school life," he shares. His personal hobbies, however, where the real, outside-the-classroom-or-Skype-call Alberto shines, include swimming, meditation, and hiking, which help him maintain balance and peace.

Alberto's captivating personal narrative is enriched by the influences that shape his philosophy. He draws strength from his "villain," Darth Vader (no introduction required), embodies the resilience of his "hero," late F1 driver and resilient hero Niki Lauda, and respects the determination of his "opposite," Detective Clarice Starling, from "Silence of the Lambs." These figures represent the facets of strength, perseverance, and adaptability he strives to embody professionally and personally.
